the power of a powerwasher

Drop the mop. Ditch the dirt.

Summer is the perfect season to get the exterior of your home squeaky clean, but you don’t have a lot of time (you’ve got to get back to the pool!).

Have you thought about using a powerwasher for an efficient and thorough deep clean?

You can use power washers or pressure washers on your siding, windows, roof, patio, fencing, and more! It will help blast away any cobwebs, grime, and buildup and give the appearance of a glistening new exterior. It’s great for curb appeal!

Pressure vs Power - What do you need?

There is some variation between power washers and pressure washers - mostly, power washers use heat while pressure washers do not. There are some other features that you may find helpful for one and not the other. Check out the infographics below to narrow down what will work best for your home.

Aren’t sure where to wash?

Once you’ve chosen the specific machine for your project, make sure to read the instructions. There are lots of different power ranges and nozzles for specific jobs. There are guidlines about how far to stand and how long you should focus.

The infographic to the right can bring inspiration for all the different areas your powerwasher could clean! Some people find this house chore fun and will be finding all the areas that could use a new look!

DIY or Hire?

You get to choose how you clean your house. Doing it yourself can save money, but hiring a professional can save time. Consider whether you have access to the areas you want to clean safely (using ladders to reach windows/roof). Using a power washer or pressure washer is relatively user-friendly and most people feel like they can comfortably manage the task, but reach out to local businesses if you’d rather pay for a pro.

Rent or buy?

When it comes to renting or buying a new cleaning device, think about how often you’ll use it, what you’ll use it for, and how much you’re willing to spend. It’s a great tool to have around, but you may find that it’s taking up more space than you’d like. Check out your local tool supply rental companies to see if there is one that meets your short-term needs - it may be worth it just to have it for a day!

Create curb appeal through cleaning

When preparing to put your house on the market, you’ll want to ensure the exterior looks its best. When potential buyers come for open houses or showings, they notice the details. I like to tell my clients that a simple afternoon of power washing can really transform a space, bringing brightness to pathways and porches that were once dull. It can be fun to get your home sparkling, and you’ll be proud of the progress!
