New Historic Listing -1016 S 38th St

This is 5 bedroom, 5 bath, manor house in the Field Club neighborhood showcases the charm and detail of a genuine historic Omaha home.

The History of the Grounds:
This beautiful manor house was built in 1906 for Herr Love. This listing is an authentic piece of Omaha history. Designed by famous Omaha architect Thomas Kimball in 1906. Kimball either designed, rehabilitated, or had a hand in designing some of Omaha’s most iconic buildings, some of which have made the National Register of Historic Places.

The original estate included 400 acres that went from Leavenworth St on the North side, to 36 St on the East, to Center St on the South, and to 42 St on the West side. What is now the Field Club Golf Club is the South part of the original estate.

Wisteria Manor Today:
The house, called “Wisteria Manor” is a classic of the period. It has a finished attic for the servants quarters, which has its own private staircase accessed through the rear entrance of the manor. Details of thoughtful craftsmanship and design can be found throughout the manor in delicate stained glass windows, unique wood work, built in bookcases, and multiple fireplaces. The manor also has a Japanese zen garden with koi fish ponds and a large space created as a place for meditation.

The classic details of this enviable manor house aren’t the only things that make this listing stand out. The previous owners made thoughtful investments in making this an eco-friendly home. The main water heater is a tankless high efficiency system, backed up by a forty gallon tank used on-demand. One of the two A/C systems in the home is a newly installed, Asian mini-split system that offers twice the energy savings of conventional systems. To top it all off, this home already has its own water filtration system. In addition, the home has three separate heating systems, two hot water boilers, and a heat pump backup system.

If you would like to take a tour of this Omaha gem, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I can’t wait to show this listing off. 402-830-2879

Mortgage Rates Back Into the 3’s After Inflation Report

In the bigger picture, today’s strength has a chance of confirming a shift back toward the lower rates that prevailed in the middle of the year. It definitely offered the strongest support of that possibility that we’ve seen since the most recent rate spike began in early September. At the very VERY least, it confirms that the aforementioned rate spike is over, and that’s a victory even if rates don’t subsequently surge back toward lower levels. Read More…

The Real Problem with Credit Reports is the Astounding Number of Errors

More than one in five consumers have a “potentially material error” in their credit file that makes them look riskier than they are. Lenders respond to this incorrect data by offering you higher interest rates, less favorable terms, or denying credit if the error makes you look too risky. Read More…
