May Newsletter 2019

It’s that time again! Taste of Omaha is back from May 31-June 2

While there are plenty of non-food related attractions (and live music!) that will be going on, this festival boils down to one thing and that’s food. Restaurants of all varieties will pitch their tents at the Taste of Omaha grounds for 3 days, cooking the specialty items that have made them some of the favorites in the Omaha area. All types of food will be served so put your taste buds on alert now because they will get a workout!

Taste of Omaha is open Friday from 5-11 PM, Saturday from 11am-11pm, and Sunday from 11am-8pm.
Stop by and grab a bite (or two or three) if you can!

Power Perennials: Plants That Thrive No Matter What

Looking to add some color to your yard but worried you don’t have the green thumb to keep plants alive? Look no further! Here are a few perennials that are tough-as-nails:

  • Daylilies. Practically indestructible, daylilies will flower their heads off in almost any sunny spot. They are drought and insect resistant and offer a wide range of colors and bicolors.

  • Buddleia. Commonly called butterfly bush, this plant produces wave after wave of fragrant, nectar-rich flowers all summer long.

  • Epimedium. Commonly called barrenwort, this is one of the best shade perennials. It is a hardy groundcover that offers both colorful foliage and flowers. It’s also highly drought resistant which makes it an ideal choice for shady locations with dry soil.

  • Coreopsis. This American native is one of the most reliable perennials you can grow. The plants produce large quantities of yellow, orange, pink, white, red, or bicolored blooms that dance on wiry stems every time the wind blows.

After years of running my fashion truck and online shop, I’ve decided to sell my business and close this chapter to focus on new adventures. This wasn’t an easy decision—*hello ruby* has been such a huge part of my life, and I’ll forever cherish the memories, the amazing customers, and the connections I made. 💖

I’ll be focusing on growing *A Local Collective*, curating vendors for Midtown Crossing, and continuing my rebranded podcast, *Behind the Business*. This next chapter is all about supporting small businesses and building community—and I couldn’t be more excited!

Thank you for every ounce of love and support over the years. You made this journey unforgettable. Here’s to big dreams and new adventures ahead!
